Introduction to the Child Care Profession (formerly known as ECI)

This course is designed for those who are interested in working as an assistant child care teacher. It meets the educational training requirement as specified by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. A very interactive, hands-on course that enables students to gain the knowledge and develop the skills needed to work with young children in public or private child care settings.

 Topics include: quality child care environment, child development, positive guidance, recognizing child abuse & neglect, routines and schedules, transitions, nutrition, universal precautions, health & safety, SIDS, Shaken Baby Syndrome, respect for diversity, parent communication and stress management

Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher (formerly known as ECII)

 This course is designed for those who are interested in working as a lead child care teacher. It meets the educational training requirement as specified by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. Designed to provide hands-on experiences for students to further their early childhood education and advance their career in child care.

 Topics include: growth & development, curriculum planning, observing & recording, developmentally appropriate activities for math, science, language, gross & fine motor, art, music and sensory, ADA, learning centers, parent communication, positive guidance and professional development.
 

Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care (formerly known as Infant/Toddler)

 This course is imperative for those working with 6 week to 2 year old children. It meets the educational training requirement by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services for infant and toddler caregivers in group or family child care settings.

 Topics include: nurturing, health & safety, environment, routines, developmentally appropriate guidance, activity planning, parent communication, growth & development, staff/child interactions and SIDS training.

 

School Age Care

 This course is a must for those individuals working with 6-12 year olds. It meets the educational training requirement by Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services for school age caregivers.

 Topics include: profile of a school age teacher, quality care, growth & development, school age classroom environment, multi-age activity planning, safety and behavior management.
 

Program Director

 This state approved course is designed to provide the knowledge and skill development necessary for the planning and implementation of the center's program as well as the supervision and development of staff. This course is the next step in your early childhood career.

 Topics include: quality programming, developmentally appropriate practices, staff development, staff morale, personnel management, staff & parent communication, facility management, philosophy, goals and center policies.
 

Center Administrator

 A must for those individuals looking for further career advancement or to polish up on management skills. This state approved course is designed to share tools and techniques for center administration and the day to day operations of a child care center.

 Topics include: management techniques, marketing, community leadership, parent partnerships, legal aspects, ADA, food program, business planning, budget development & fiscal responsibility, recruiting & retaining, and teamwork.

 

Fundamentals of Family Child Care

 This course meets the educational requirements as specified by the  Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services for individuals  who wish to start a family daycare. It is designed to provide essential information about establishing a successful in-home child  care business that is in accordance with Wisconsin's State Law. Students must have first completed the "Introduction To The Child Care Profession" course.

 Topics include: establishing a family daycare business, program & financial records, policies for health, safety, nutrition and  development of children, professionalism, parent communication, and activity planning.
